When can I commence work?
Using the Local Authority
You can commence work once you have given a Building Notice or
submitted Full Plans.
However you are required to give a Commencement Notice to the Local
Authority at least two days clear (excluding the day on which you give
notice, Saturday, Sunday, Bank or public holiday) before you start; you
should not that if you did start work before you receive a decision on
your Full Plans application,should there be a dispute you will have
prejudiced yourability to seek a determination from the Secretary of
State.
Using an Approved Inspector
When using an Approved Inspector, you may commence work as soon as the Initial Notice is accepted
by the Local Authority (or deemed to have been accepted if nothing is heard
from the Local Authority within 5 working days of the notice being given), subject
to any arrangements you may
have agreed with the inspector.Work may not commence if the Initial Notice is rejected.
